Polis Diving Centre PADI Advanced Open Water
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course is designed to follow on immediately after the Open Water Diver Course, however we can cater the course to meet the needs of more experienced divers.
The course is divided into 2 areas:
Knowledge Development – This consists of home study via your Adventures in Diving manual. The relevant knowledge reviews need to be completed, and will be reviewed at the dive site prior to completing your open water dives.
Five Open Water dives – You will complete two "core dives" (compulsory Navigation and Deep dives). The Navigation dive will enable you to become more familiar with the skills and knowledge of navigating underwater, and expand on the knowledge gained on your Open Water Diver Course.
The Deep dive will allow you to learn how to conduct and gain the experience of a dive below 18 metres, with an Instructor guiding you al the way. For the other three dives, you are able to choose from 14 elective dives including; Wreck, Naturalist, Multilevel, Drysuit and Underwater Photography, depending on where your interests lie.

A certification allows you to:
- Rent or buy equipment.
- Have your cylinder filled.
- Participate in diving activities.
- Take continuing education courses.
- Dive in areas under conditions similar to those in which you have trained or have experience.
Advanced Open Water Diver certification allows you to:
- Dive to a depth of 30 metres (21 metres if aged 12-14 years) depending on dive site conditions.
- Enrol on a PADI Rescue Diver course.
